Talk about what can be done can go only so far in giving an impression of good design. Eventually even the best planning discussions must come to a mutual understanding of what appearance the final project will eventually take on. Especially for those not versed in the language of the medium chosen, concrete examples are the best way to envision the design principles discussed in actual execution. But, as in all things, there are some pitfalls that must be understood and avoided to ensure correct expectations are set.
Several of the various media of design are listed here with examples embedded within the descriptions of the design project particulars. What won't be found are discussions of the confusing "technobable" of the technologies employed to implement each project. A good design discussion focuses on the goals of each project in particular. Once the intentions of the client are well understood, the expertice of the designer steps in and applies the best technology with which to accomplish that unique task. In reallity it doesn't matter what technology is employed to deliver a project as long as the end result is a successful realization of the initial goals of the client.
